Kaizer Chiefs transfer target Oswin Appollis missing!

Rise and Shine secured maximum points without their star attacker who is a wanted man in Naturena.

  • Chiefs target Appollis was unavailable for Polokwane
  • Rise and Shine claimed maximum points
  • Ighodaro, Nikani & Matuludi scored the goals

WHAT HAPPENED?

Thabang Matuludi, Polokwane City

Polokwane City secured a late win as they beat AmaZulu 2-1 in their Premier Soccer League opener at the Old Peter Mokaba Stadium on Saturday evening.

Godspower Ighodaro opened the scoring for Usuthu in the 30th minute, but Bulelani Nikani equalised for Rise and Shine in the 45th minute.

It looked like the teams would have to settle for a share of the spoils but Thabang Matuludi proved to be the hero for Polokwane as he fired a stoppage-time goal to seal the host's win after a huge mistake by Veli Mothwa.

THE BIGGER PICTURE

Oswin Appollis, Polokwane City, September 2024

Ighodaro marked his debut for AmaZulu with a goal as he sent a message to his parent club, Mamelodi Sundowns who are under the guidance of Manqoba Mngqithi.

Polokwane, on the other hand, were without their star attacker Oswin Appollis who is on the radar of Kaizer Chiefs. It remains to be seen whether the Bafana Bafana star will leave Rise and Shine in the near future.

AmaZulu will have to swiftly forget about the loss to Polokwane and prepare for their next assignment which is against Chiefs on September 25.

Meanwhile, Polokwane will play against PSL newbies Magesi FC in the Limpopo Derby next week on Saturday.
